To implement its vision of society, Ethias has reshaped its Sustainability strategy at the end of 2021. This strategy is built around the three main pillars of Environmental - Social - Governance (ESG) and the guiding principles that underpin its implementation.

  • Environmental pillar: Ethias is helping to mitigate climate change by adopting a "Net Zero" transition plan for its operations (by 2030) and investments (by 2050);
  • Societal pillar: Ethias continually seeks to improve the working conditions of its employees and to create a positive impact for Belgian society, particularly through the Ethias Impact Fund;
  • Governance pillar: Ethias is committed to communicating authentically and transparently, and to preserving its reputation as a socially responsible company;

Our sustainable ambitions are also reflected in our investment activities and in the development of our insurance products:

  • Ethias invests in transition and sustainable businesses, while supporting the local economy;
  • In product development: Ethias is gradually transforming its range of insurance products and services to minimise their environmental impact, ensure that no one is excluded, and promote prevention and the adoption of sustainable behaviour.

We want solidarity to be reflected in everything we do. That's why we came up with the visual concept of ‘the hand on the shoulder’. Anyone can make this simple gesture and create an infinite chain of solidarity, among ourselves and towards others. 💚

Sustainable Development Goals

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by all Member States of the United Nations in 2015, as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which sets out a 15-year plan to achieve these goals.

Our Sustainability strategy is based on these SDGs, and more specifically on the 6 goals where Ethias believes it can have a real impact on society. These include goals to eradicate poverty, promote health for all, create more sustainable cities and communities , adopt more sustainable patterns of production and consumption, fight climate change , and promote and encourage all forms of collaboration in these key areas. You will find below a framework between these objectives, their targets and the main actions and commitments of Ethias.
